After receiving contractor bids to tile our kitchen backsplash that didn t fit our budget my husband and i decided to tackle the project ourselves.

The best way is to arrange your wall tile in a pyramid shape.
To install ceramic wall tile use a level and measuring tape to mark the tile locations on the wall with chalk.
If the tile has been cut make sure you re placing it in the right spot.

A rented ceramic tile cutter is the easiest way to make your straight cuts.
If it seems complicated try this.
Hang edge tiles by applying adhesive to the backs of the tiles.
Generally 24 hours will do for this and some setup more quickly.
Add tile spacers for help keeping the tile pieces lined up.
Flatten the tile with a grout float if necessary.
The tiles must be set before you attempt to grout them or they will move and cause you headaches.
At the end of a row or around fixtures you ll probably need to cut some tiles.
Grout it clean up and enjoy.
Take a tile for the edge of the wall and apply the adhesive to the back as if you were putting butter on a piece of toast.
Next lock firmly the tile into position as you will use the grinder.
With one weekend and a lot of hard work we transformed a plain white wall into a farmhouse style tile backsplash.

In our case we have used a grinder with a diamond blade to cut out a small section of the tile.
